Bob & Pat Tomlin took a trip they would like to share with the members..
Bob and I recently went to Daytona - as a side trip to our latest cruise. Had a blast. Thought the club might enjoy seeing what the 33% bank on turns 3 + 4 really looks like, as well as the podium in the drivers meeting room. Also enclosing a picture of victory lane and Trevor Baynes car - still covered with champagne and confetti!
ttyl - I hope
Thought I'd "brag" a little bit about the tremendous awards Dave Grant and I received at the Long Beach Grand Prix Corvette Corral car show. On Saturday, Dave and I participated in the Corvette Corral sponsored by "Corvette Racing". As part of this event, the cars were judged by the Corvette Racing team drivers; Johnny O'Connell, Olivier Beretta, Oliver Gavin and Jan Magnussen. The driver's picked their favorite corvettes out of the 50+ vettes in attendance. Johnny O'Connell, driver of Corvette #3, picked Dave Grant's astoundingly beautiful 1964 coupe, noting on the judging sheet that he was impressed with the "old school" styling and overall condition of the car. Olivier Beretta, driver of Corvette #4, picked Bob Tomlin's 1999 coupe, noting on the judging sheet that he liked the cowl hood and nice overall style of the car. The awards are (2) beautiful book style presentations with the "Corvette" logo on one side and picture frame on the other. The yellow logo background is autographed by the judge C6R driver. Dave and Bob also received an autographed judging sheet with the driver comments noted. Needless to say, we were both quite surprised by these awards, given the other beautiful C4's, 5's and 6's in attendance. Dave and I both agree that these awards are probably the most cherished we have EVERreceived! Of special note is the fact that Dave's 64 was the only "vintage" corvette in the mix notwithstanding the beauty of this awesome car. Obviously Johnny O'Connell loved it, as did numerous other race patrons and vette owners who commented on the "coolness' of Dave's ride.
